Description

Proton Drive gives you end-to-end encrypted cloud storage, photo backup, and file sharing, including Proton Docs for real-time collaborative editing of encrypted documents (Docs and Sheets for business plans). Files are encrypted on your device before they leave it, so Proton has no cryptographic keys to hand over even under court order. The free tier starts at up to 5 GB (boosted from 2 GB by completing the get-started actions), and paid plans pool storage with the rest of the Proton suite — up to 3 TB shared across six users on the Family plan, or per-user allocations on business tiers.

It’s the right answer when a client needs off-site backup that satisfies sovereignty requirements but doesn’t want to operate their own Nextcloud instance — and it pairs naturally with our self-hosted stacks as an encrypted secondary or disaster-recovery layer. When Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive is scanning your files to feed their ad algorithms, the Swiss model is the only one that respects the boundary between “hosting” and “reading.”
